@jmiquelmb There is no colonialism that the US engages in the MENA region, unless you think the US supporting or not supporting different groups is colonialism; in which case who isn't? And every Global South nation is an apartheid state too. You lot are far more butthurt that the US is engaging at all than with any moral qualms.

@vicentematias763 What hits close to home is the fact that the CIA gets the public backlash while every other nation gets to freely pillage and colonize for funsies. Its impressive how the Left is so hyper focused on the US that they effectively excuse colonialism as long as it isn't the US and its proxies doing it. cough Russia in Sudan cough

@unreasonable-man.bsky.social Unironic clown comment. Its a fictional movie that people don't have to purchase. You basically admitted your issue with it; the "lies" which you'd prefer to be "truth" that just so happens to skew to your ideology. You're far more upset that you're not making the lies than anything else.

@KillahMate They know; they just don't care since its generally seen as a historical fact than anything else. Also, LatAm generally ignores everything besides that for their own political reasons.

I mean, only if you ignore literally everything else, yeah.

@ginogatash4030 So a good movie should allow the revolutionaries to do their revolution, then show off how the revolutionaries go ahead and become far worse than the status quo prior, right? Because that's "realistic". The "system" always exists no matter what. Anyone talking about "overthrowing the system" want to place a new one that will then go on to defend itself. Its a whole thing. And Muricans happen to believe their "system" is decent enough to defend.

@theradionicrevival8068 Oh yes, movie directors are definitely scared of...*reads notes*...movies about toppling the system and replacing it with a worse one.

@mat_max A braindead argument when you see that most of the Global South's wealth exploded due to open trade to begin with. Your concept of "protecting its resources" only works in strong capitalist states, which involves a lot of opened markets, genius. China, the epitome of protecting its own resources, very much has an open market.
