@ronferderer9088 Bill Clinton never once promised to defend Ukraine in a war. That's absurd. He promised that the US would respect Ukrainian territorial sovereignty. Not even Ukrainians expect that.

@madmaxmcinnes4102 So we should bend over for Putin whenever he threatens nukes? Not everyone is a pathetic bootlicker; his demands have been idiotic thus far and now he's threatening nukes after his forces have been getting embarrassed in Ukraine??? Screw that.
2
@4epa1012 Your "reasonable" suggestion is to bend over for a dictator every time he wags the "nuke" button. If the US was threatening Russia's existence, then fine; but this? No, screw him.
2
@sunlight000 Apparently not, since Russians are protesting everywhere. At a certain point, reaching a fever pitch, fear turns into rage.

@ismaellara4007 The bigger question is whether your narrative is even more BS than the US Gov's narrative

Until NATO actively contemplates invading Russia or Belarus, or even using nukes, they are not the ones that need to be talked down from.

@Ivan.A.Churlyuski Chernobyl has mostly recovered since. The issue is that Ukraine is right next to NATO countries that justifiably fear a Russian invasion. NATO has never actually threatened war; Russia is doing just that, though. If any Middle Eastern state threatened to nuke or invade NATO, we would also be talking about WW3 then too. Nobody cried "WW3!" when it was Russia invading Georgia or Kazakhstan.

@Ivan.A.Churlyuski NATO doesn't surround Russia by any stretch of the imagination; they take up around 5% of its borders. And the amount of missiles fielded are utterly eclipsed by Kaliningrad alone. By your logic, Russian actions speak louder than words and NATO should be mobilized against them already.
1
@Ivan.A.Churlyuski Tell me when NATO makes up even 1/4 of Russia's borders. For many NATO nations, Russia certainly does. Edit: Besides, these nations would have never joined without Russian imperialism forcing their hand. Sweden and Finland were perfectly content NOT joining until Russian threats came. Russia is making their bed perfectly fine without any US fuckery.

@ronferderer9088 Random undisclosed promises mean jack all. Actual signed treaties are what matters. You can't find anything that forces the US to intervene on Ukraine's behalf if war breaks out; because it doesn't exist.
1
@liaupikhan If the Russians place nukes near the US again, the US will retaliate and place more nukes near Russia. The US has not allowed it since Cuba, and it doesn't care about Russian troops near the US. Russia doesn't do it because the US has far more places to place nukes to begin with.

@ijikayuto2950 We planned to bomb Berlin, not Japan. Also, the territories the US occupies have the permission of the locals there.
