Watcher "US is in decline" By what metric? It's economy isn't falling, its currency is still the world standard, its military is still supreme, its alliance structures still maintained, etc, etc. The reality is that other countries are catching up, but China seems to think that "catching up" means surpassed and is throwing away its future. It's like watching a future Venezuela.

@ex0duzz About 2k American soldiers died, so not many American hearts were broken. A helluva lost less than the people they fought; another 2k US death for 100k Chinese death seems to be the typical end result of war with the US. Should prolly remind your master about that.

US inflation is standard by world standards, and "exteme inequality" is a joke when we're talking about China in relation. You dream the same dream that losers have dreamed for centuries. @sachin2842 I don't think any American really cares about losing "superpower status". As long as the US maintains its democratic allies, it'll be secure. That's the importance of international alliance structures.

@abointedtoyblingofmats And a US soldier can do that much better if its far away from US territory and if those "foreign island thousands of miles away" isn't forcibly incorporated and adds onto a possible enemy's strength. Your way of thinking led directly to Pearl Harbor, and thank God people like you are nowhere near the levers of power.

@jay23cr China won't invade Taiwan for fear of dragging the US into conflict; the US will not risk its alliance structure falling apart because it didn't protect Taiwan. This is a critical matter of national security, not just a random country far from the US' peripheries that it doesn't care about.

@quirbyjohntong8169 Lobbyists didn't even push for the US to go to war in any of its conflicts to begin with, so idk why you're acting like it would this time. Also, every country has lobbyists. Countries like China flat-out have companies for government, so this seems like a poor point.

@quirbyjohntong8169 Well, duh. You have to makr contracts long before a conflict so tou don't come into it without a means to do what you need to do. Like, this applies to every big project. If you're gonna convince anyone of anything, you need stronger logical points than that. Dude, you can doubt the US Government without becoming a nutcase. Don't act like you're being reasonable by any means. You have no true logical weight behind your beliefs. Edit: A government has to balance people and money to begin with. A government that puts people above money as a rule is a bad one.

@againstviralmisinformation510 "Regional superpower" is an oxymoron. You can either be a regional power or a superpower; you can't be both since being a superpower means having power across cultural, economic, and military might that affects the global landscape. China is not a superpower, if it will ever be; it is a strong regional power atm. Ignoring the "lobbyists control everything" theory of geopolitics for a moment; another country being stronger than you doesn't prevent war from occurring; so even if China was stronger, that wouldn't necessarily stop the US from going to war for Taiwan.

@againstviralmisinformation510 "Across Asia" Barely East Asia, definitely not the Middle East yet. Run-of-the-mill influence is not the same as superpower influence. US has influence literally across the globe, not so with China, Not even in all of Asia yet. No, it's rather unlikely. From demographic issues, to their massive issue with their housing/construction market, to the complete lack of trust in the CCP outside of their borders, to the complete lack of allies, etc, etc. You're using projections of China's economy, which are based on CURRENT economic growth. Newsflash; growth slows down the closer you reach a high-income society threshold. And even then, a country holding a high GDP is nothing compared to the average citizen holding a decent amount of wealth, which Chinese citizens do not have yet and likely will not for many more years down the line. Suffice it to say, there are a LOT of hurdles before China can really surpass the US in anything in regards to superpower status. Dude, those hypersonic missile tests were not new, or at least the tech isn't; the US has those in the form of the X-37B Space Plane. They glide via hypersonic speeds upon re-entry. The big deal was the weaponization of it, which the US has not elected to do, that much is true. America does not have much to lose as China does. And losing Taiwan IS the US losing, so it cannot happen. Period.
