@hypocrisyrules3768 SCUD missiles hit nobody in Kuwait, and a single one got through to his a US barracks in Saudi Arabia. A single missile in the midst of the Persian Gulf War. So to put this into perspective, SCUD has only scored kills against a competent armed force once in its entire history. Congrats, I guess. As for HIMARS, they have decimated Russian troops, bases, and even officers and many barracks, and even an air base. This from a few HIMARS rather than the series of them that the US has. And for the record Russia claimed its anti-missile systems can shoot down HIMARS, and Russia's Tornado has yet to be tested against an actual military. It's firing on Ukraine which basically has no competent anti-missile defenses. Excuse me if I don't take the SCUDS, or anything Russian, that seriously anymore. This ain't War Thunder, my guy; in reality Russian weapons appear to be a joke and we were all just deluding ourselves.

@lordvladimirputin7895 They don't have the blueprints or the parts to fix US equipment. So no they can't. And US doesn't care that Taliban has such basic stuff to begin with.

@Alex-Steiner2D The first bit was outright a lie, and the second bit is hilarious considering how the Russians left Afghanistan in a mere 10 years with 10k dead and a collapsing government.

@Alex-Steiner2D Russians died in droves and killed over a million Afghan civilians personally and collapsed in on themselves while the Americans barely died and the civilian population was mostly spared from US reprisals and mostly only faced death at the hands of Taliban attacks. The difference is indeed obvious. Leaving quietly or leaving a strong government means jack all when you are fleeing in the first place and said government collapses later without support. Especially when no Afghans flee with you anyway.

@hypocrisyrules3768 As far as I remember reading, Israel found multiple issues with the Patriot systems back then because they were so new at the time; but they credited with stopped the vast majority of SCUD missiles and allowed other missiles to hit areas that were of no consequence. Even in Yemen/Saudi Arabia the Patriots stop 99% of missile attacks. The drone attack you're referring to came from Yemeni rebels and was the first instance of drones from the south. Patriots are aimed anti-missile defense systems and were not aimed at that region back then until after that. It isn't like I'm dogging on Russian systems because of a few mishaps; I'm dogging on them because their incompetence in Ukraine is ongoing and with a very long list. I'm not really underestimating anything hese; in terms of conventional warfare the US is utterly dominant and there's nothing wrong with admitting to this basic fact. You bring up Vietnam, which was full on guerilla warfare, not conventional. Meanwhile Russia has lost tens of thousands of men in CONVENTIONAL warfare. It's a joke. Crying about "underestimating" militaries after they've failed to handle an opposing army from such a weak military so hard is more than fair. Nobody is advocating for a US invasion of Russia itself or anything.

@melhiorlector2680 Soviet Russians ran from Afghanistan too, genius. And did so with more than 5 times the death count in half the time. That's kinda why Russia is a joke atm.
