@metalblind95 I love how these "allies" that are crying about this are completely crapping all over a fellow ally's right to choose who they buy what from. You're also neglecting how obscene France's prices were when they were trying to sell their stuff. Who needs allies when France is so willing to fleece them and then throw a temper tantrum when they reasonably go elsewhere?

@metalblind95 Of course not, which is why France complaining about this is pathetic. Australia is right there to a potential conflict and needs to arm itself, and instead France chooses to hike up the price after the ink was dried. Fact is that France is the one that screwed itself, but now French leaders are stoking the fires of populism for the sake of hiding their incompetent attempt to fleece an allied nation.

@chrisflower3223 You people are abscessed with "Saxons" and "English" people, Jesus. And France has been the US' crappiest ally in its history. France's first act after "helping" the US was to extort it for money and then steal sailors for its wars in Europe, killing US servicemen if they resisted. The only time the French respected the US was when it liberated the country in WW2...and then promptly kicked them out a few years later. Let's not act like the French were in any shape or form a "good ally".

@3dPrintingMillennial Some of the most left-wing governments in the US have been more militant as well. FDR was the one that gunned for intervention in Europe over isolationist Wilkie. Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, etc. Seems right to me.

@Qyoon US didn't even screw them over, Australia was the one the French screwed over. Everyone is abandoning Russia and China for the US, so if France seriously switched over because of this, then it'd be good riddance.

@Chris689200 1) Nobody has any idea how the contract went, yet an entire country is up in arms because they felt slighted. I think talking about populism is warranted. 2) I ain't British, nor am I salty. I'm just unpleasantly surprised at how childish the French are. Though, considering the defensive replies, maybe I shouldn't be. Especially funny considering they always do the "it's just business bro" when they screw another country that is allied with them. 3) Australia has to pay because that was a part of the exit clause. Breaking a contract illegally is grounds for far more than just "reparations". I don't care how the UK is doing.

It complains about China because China is screwing with its general vicinity. Why do you expect a country to fight every injustice everywhere? That's not how countries work; they work by focusing on issues near-to-home, generally. If the US starts placing militarized islands near Australia's trade routes, threatening to take them over as its own de-jure territory, then you'll find them complaining about it, yeah. "800k deaths caused by the US in the Middle East" What kind of crackpot website gave you that number? The US isn't beholden to other countries and their actions, its only responsible for its own actions, so blaming the US for the Arab Spring is you trying to add on numbers, for example. Besides, the US saved far more lives since 2001 via US Aid alone. Australia hates Julian Assange for stealing into US government computers via using a proxy like Manning and divulging US secrets. That is never an ok thing to do. It's not like the US goes out of its way to protect US citizens that do stupid stuff in other countries either, so idk why you're complaining about this. I mean, if defying Han China and its imperialist ambitions equates to "Anglo-Saxon dominance", then sure. You'll find that quite a few East Asian countries are also in that camp too. But I'm sure you'll say they are just puppets. Anyone against the great Chinese empire is just a puppet to someone else, right?

@jean5605 In what world does this have anything to do with trust? The US didn't go against any agreement on this, Australia was the one that agreed to something and reneged on it; not the US. This is yet more proof that we cannot trust France for jack.
