That's absurd. The US gave Ukraine Javelin weapons prior to the war; more came later, but stories of Russian armor getting melted by these weapons were a thing before more Western support was forthcoming. Remember, even the Western powers thought Russia would melt Ukraine and take Kyiv in 3 days. The fact of the matter was that people thought Russia was comparable to the US, and the US would have nowhere near as much issue in Ukraine as Russia does. The mistake Russia and Western military analysts made was to assume Russia was comparable to the US militarily.

@ivansmirnov7342 And how do you know that? Do you understand how a military works? Not everyone in that army are made up of infantry which push deeper into enemy territory; there are cooks, artillerymen, engineers, tankers, fuelers, etc, etc. How much has Russia actually sent of its active infantry, those trained to fight and work together? We don't know, but we do know that Russia went into this assuming that this would be a quick victory in taking Kyiv and folding the Ukrainian resistance. We also know that they have been having horrendous logistic issues, their overreliance on railroads becoming obvious. As far as we can tell; the 200k may just be the maximum they COULD send at all. Regardless of the circumstances, Russia was expected to win by the West quickly, RUSSIANS expected to win quickly. But they have not only been unable to get Kyiv, they have been forced to switch its objectives. That by itself is a defeat.

The constant use of cluster bombs which barely damage infrastructure but are meant specifically to kill random people spells it out for you. @ivansmirnov7342 Weak in every possible way, barring high morale. Population doesn't matter so much outside of guerilla warfare, which Russia has not really dealt with due to being unable to occupy Ukraine. Firepower? Ukraine barely had an air force or armored units to begin with; Ukraine has been almost entirely fighting with man-held weapons and equipment. "Local organized withdraw" which is a fancy phrase for the reality of being forced to withdraw. Please...the US Invasion of Iraq had a grand total of 300k+ men, with 70k of that being Kurdish fighters from within Iraq, so the actual invasion force was more akin to 230k+ men. Iraq's army at the time in 2003 was 1.3M+ men. Idk why you're acting like losing around 20k men in a failed invasion of Kyiv is somehow anything but an atrocious waste of resources for no gain.

Russia has pretty much bombed every city they were trying to take into dust, idk why you're acting like Russia actually held back for some moral reason right now. Extremely unlikely even before the near-genocidal talk coming from Russian state news these days. No, the US claims that, Ukraine claims more than that, I believe. And its mostly been backed by visual evidence. Why are you trying so hard to twist this humiliating defeat into something its not? Like really? If the US suffered something like this, I doubt you'd be so "understanding" lol

@juicedfetus7649 They literally bombed everything to ashes in every war they participated in. You can't find any city bombed to hell like Aleppo or Mariupol in any US war in the past 50 years. The difference is that Russia doesn't care about morality while waging war and STILL is garbage at waging it. All they can do is throw bodies and hope for the best.

@SanderTach "city after city" LOL what? They took Mariupol after having it surrounded in 2-3 months. They took cities like Kherson relatively quickly as the south collapsed. Ever since the collapse of the northern front for Russia, they have been effectively stuck in a big stalemate with a country much weaker than them. Russia's objective is to take the entirety of the Donbass now to NOT be seen as pathetic as it really is. Ukraine's objective is to hold and bleed the Russians if it cannot outright take back territory. Only Russia's pathetic lack of care for their own people and brainwashing somehow makes this shitshow not a disaster for their own country. Or a successful offensive. Talk crap after Russia manages to secure the Donbass. Even then, Ukraine is not gonna give up.
