@mint8648 How is it hyperbole? China is robbing Filipino territory, and you suggest just letting them continue for "peace"? The Philippines has other options, like allying with multiple countries so that their combined navy is never outnumbered by China's.

@BasicLib I actually don't think that Africa will be too bothered if there really is another quasi Cold War. Africa may be relatively unstable, but it's nowhere near the instability of when it was first liberated from colonialism. Those new governments could easily be toppled by whichever spy agency with a little prodding -now they have been established long enough to make that difficult. Besides, the US doesn't seem all that interested in Africa -France is though, so there could be some competition there.

@vtron9832 Because that very Party is paving the way for a new Century of Humiliation. The last time it occurred was when China was weak, but also because it attracted coalition conflicts. The CCP is turning every possible nation near it into its enemy that would consider plunging their enemy into another Century of Humiliation as a positive for their own security.

@Drachepower China tried to kick the US out of Korea entirely and failed with horrendous Chinse casualties against a demilitarized US. China did succeed in forcing the US to leave in Vietnam, but made a new enemy in Vietnam instead after trying to control it and lost its puppet in Cambodia. China's history in victory is only really against itself, not against outsiders at all.

@jerryg9207 To be fair, this was the same argument Pro-Kremlin people used when discussing possible Russian invasions of Eastern European states. "It's just Western propaganda, they have enough land, that's the past and won't happen so just dismantle NATO already". Then 2014 happened. And it turned out that that was more excuses. Now those same people are denying that Russia even invaded, that Ukraine is a Nazi state, that Crimeans totally voted to be free of Ukraine despite Putin planning to take Crimea before any referendum, etc, etc. Basically, if democratic countries aren't vigilant, then it turns out that dictatorial countries tend to take advantage of the situation.

@marpagapal3312 China represents repression that will inch their way into Europe's way of life and thus will destroy their democratic freedoms. China 100% is a threat to Europe, just not directly. Especially if somehow the US collapses and China continues to rise unabated. It's in their interest to either change China, or not allow it to continue to grow without contention and forming international alliances to protect themselves from it's influence.

The Philippines since 2016 has been specifically kicking out Western influence with its popular President proudly proclaiming his new alliance with China. 4 years later and the entire Philippines has turned against China specifically BECAUSE of China's actions. No US influence to blame, not with such an Anti-US President. China is naturally powerful. That really doesn't change anything in its actions. Vietnam was always hostile with China. Australia had never been hostile with China. The US actively aided China once. Japan has always had mixed relations with China, ditto with Korea. And the Philippines literally bent over for China and got fucked for it. You're deluding yourself. The West won't stop because we now see that you will not stop expanding and spreading China's dominion to out detriment. If you were just gonna sit in a corner and continue to grow peacefully, then you'd have a point; but that's not what's going on here at all. The world is waking up to China's imperialism, it had us fooled for a while, thinking it was just a quirky friend with some fucked up things in the background which we could ignore. Let it keep bullying them lest they become "a puppet" for the US? That would just make them a puppet for China, and better to be a puppet to a nation that won't steal your territory than one that will. China could have acted as innocent as it seemed pre-2016, but ever since China has been burning bridges left and right.

@Shen Hu No country is ever free from outside interference. But most of China's "outside interference" are spawned from China's actions anyway. China's "China First" policy is what's provoking these countries against it in the first place.

It demanded tribute from its neighbors and crushed those that refused to do so. That's not co-existence, that's an imperialist state flexing its muscles to prove its superiority. @Shen Hu I'm aware. But no, very few Korean War veterans actually supported China; many didn't see why they had to die for Koreans in a war that wasn't their own. Similar to Vietnam; and today, most Americans are proud of saving South Korea. Are you proud in saving North Korea? MK-Ultra was studied in response to the USSR, North Korea, and China using brainwashing techniques to torture enemy POWs into following their ideology. In short, the US got that horrendous idea from something China did as a standard. Wow, it's almost as if the US' worse impulses were in response to horrendous states like yours, huh? "Its aim was to develop mind-controlling drugs for use against the Soviet bloc in response to alleged Soviet, Chinese, and North Korean use of mind control techniques on U.S. prisoners of war during the Korean War." The US' crime was trying fall into the same level as China, instead of maintaining its moral highground. Even if both the US and China fall into decline, someone else will just take their place. Geopolitics occurs between smaller states too, and stronger power that arise take up the mantle themselves as their stakes grow.

@DivineMedicus That applies to other first-world nations too, you know? For example, with life expectancy, the US was at 78 or so. Most European states, usually seen as the pinnacle; are around 80 with some a bit higher or lower. Are you gonna call Western Europe nations a bunch of "developing" country now? xD

China does have the right to go to internationally neutral waters near the US, yes. Russia did it in 2020, and no one complained about its right to do so; only complained about it near ramming a US ship in the area. Hey, if China wants to put up ballistic missiles in a friendly country that fears a US invasion. Feel free. As long as it's a democracy and thus has the will of the people behind it -otherwise we won't care since it isn't legitimate to us anyway. The US has always defended freedom of navigation outside of in a war. That has literally been one of the most consistent US policies in its entire history. The only time it has gone against that is when its in not-so-open conflict with another country; but that doesn't dissuade from freedom of navigation when it comes to outside of conflict.

Also, for reference, China's Cultural Revolution killed infinitely more people than the US' entire history of killing. @aestheticjedi1868 That's not a fact. The most reliable number for the dead in Iraq is 300k. The amount killed in Afghanistan not even that. Meanwhile, in China's Cultural Revolution the death toll is in the double-digit millions. China can't even begin to talk about human rights in any shape or form. Edit: Hell, the death toll is not even mostly caused by the US Coalition in Iraq, now that I recall. Most dead are caused by terrorist insurgents.

The US government has consistently dismantled it after every major conflict, to disastrous effects to US foreign policy. How powerful is the MIC if it can be dismantled so easily every time the US wishes it to be? The MIC controlling policy is just an excuse Americans use to dodge around their government acting in their interests. The US acts geopolitically, like all nations. The MIC is not a factor in that.

@thedirty530 US isn't an ally to India, so won't lift a pinky for it. It's united against China, but they're not literal allies -they will just work together if war sparks. And the US also wasn't allied with the UK either, and the US had no interest in joining WW2 -so acting like that is an example of US policy is just plain ignorance when the US is literally allied with the UK these days. The US is probably among the few nations on Earth that people trust will follow through with their alliance. Because it has never broken their alliance agreements at all.
