  1. ROK, as in Republic of Korea, is generally pronounced as "rock". Like Korean Marines are called "rock" Marines, not R-O-K Marines. And that Russian captain's name was butchered too. The letter "E" in the Cyrillic alphabet is pronounced as "ye". A better pronunciation of his name would be something like "Yevseyenko".
