  2. I have a Soviet 1 ruble bill. I got it from a magician at a Christmas party circa 1989-91, when I was about 4-6 years old. I gave him a dollar, and he did some trick and gave me back a ruble. So I suppose that that ruble at least was, in a sense, convertible.
