The 13th and 14th Amendments entirely nullify the Dred Scott decision. There is not a single attorney in the country who would use the Dred Scott ruling to establish precedent, because it is nullified.

@NathanCassidy721 He didn't make that point. He said that the ruling still stands and has never been overturned, then mentioned the 13th and 14th Amendments, given the impression that it was still good law. It isn't. The constitutional amendments nullify it entirely.

@ZipplyZane The manner in which it was overturned is irrelevant. It was indeed nullified, not just "effectively" but entirely.

@ZipplyZane It isn't pedantry. The fact that the Supreme Court didn't reverse the decision is entirely irrelevant, because the 13th and 14th Amendments were passed before the issue came before the court again.
