Too cold or too hot for Marines? Bullshit. I fought in Iraq where it was hotter than a Swedish whorehouse during the summer. Other Marines fought at Chosin Reservoir in Korea, in subzero temperatures. We can fight anywhere on earth, and win. And the forest? Where the Romans lost to a bunch of Germans armed with spears? Yeah, I think Marines with rifles could set up a nice little ambush for them. Especially if they had claymore mines.

@ab-mj1tx It's a phrase. And Marines didn't fight the Germans in WWII. But you can ask the Japanese what it's like to fight us - if you can find any of the very few who lived to tell about it.

@GGG1113331 If you have a contemporary map, it would be fine. Modern maps might have some problems due to changes in topography and the courses of waterways and such. Compasses would work. I don't know much about navigation by stars, but that's mainly because I wasn't taught to do so in the Marines - where I learned to use a map and compass.
