Yeah, they kinda are. Russia more or less openly is, and our relationship with China is more complicated, but much of what the Chinese are doing in the Pacific is designed to be a direct challenge to American hegemony there, to say nothing of the cyberwarfare and the economic shenanigans. Or, you know, the fact that they haven't bitch-slapped Kim Jong-un and made him sit his fat ass down, shut the fuck up, hand over his nukes, and quit being a nuisance. North Korea only still exists because the Chinese don't want a united Korea (or more specifically the thousands of American troops there) on their border.

I'd like to see US v. Russia with actual geography instead of the supercontinent. Europe exists and allows the US use of bases, but provides no actual military assistance. We all know who would win, but the model of what would happen would be interesting. That being said, everyone knows that invading Russia is a terrible idea. There were these two guys named Napoleon Bonaparte and Adolf Hitler who learned that one the hard way.

Callum Gledhill Sorry, mistake acknowledged. I know Russia isn't a Western ally.

The technology difference doesn't matter all that much. You still have to move a large army across a vast area of land, and it's really really cold and gets several feet of snow in the winter and is swampy the rest of the year. Vehicles get bogged down, supply lines are stretched, and it's really rough going no matter what.
