  1. Britain is the closest ally of the United States. The United States is the most powerful nation in the history of the world. Our very existence gives our cousins across the pond quite a bit of power, to say nothing of their own formidable military and economic might.

The UN has no credibility for certain, but that doesn't change the fact that the Falklands are British, the people of the Falklands are British, the people of the Falklands want to remain British, the Crown wants to keep the Falklands, and the last time the Argentinians tried to force the issue it ended quite poorly for them.

  4. Crinolynne Endymion You're right about most of what you said, so not to quibble, but the United States severed ties to the Crown by force of arms, not by a vote. That being said, for the most part, I'm all in favor of Britain having her empire, as basically everyone with the exception of the United States and arguably Canada and Australia was better off under the Crown than they have been since independence.
