  1. When I was in the Corps in the 2000s, I knew my friends who were wounded in Iraq were getting Purple Hearts purchased for Operation Downfall. I was lucky enough never to get one myself.

  2. You mean he was 6th Marine Division, 22nd Marine Regiment? 22nd Infantry would be Army. If he was 6th MarDiv, 22nd Marine Regiment that would be written as 6th MarDiv, 22nd Marines. 6th Marines is the 6th Marine Regiment, which belongs to 2nd Marine Division, which wasn't on Okinawa.
