  1. You don't "win" a Purple Heart. A Purple Heart is awarded for receiving wounds caused by enemy action. Anything one goes through to earn such an award could not reasonably be mistaken for "winning".

  2.  @pauliemc2010  It's an American medal. When he talks about lieutenants, he pronounces it "lieutenant" when he refers to an American one and "leftenant" when he refers to a British one. "Winning" various military decorations is considered an almost offensive way of saying it to American military/vets
