  2.  @dr.s6114  Plus these were moslems. Moslems have always been enthusiastic persecutors of the Jews. Couldn't have been too hard recruiting them - "wait a minute, you hate the USSR AND the Jews? Where do I sign - I mean where would I sign if I was literate?" Allies of convenience certainly, but who happened to share two large ideological goals.
