No, women were not fighting alongside men. Boudicca herself almost certainly did not fight personally either - though she was undoubtedly the force behind the rebellion and was likely there with the army. There is a very big difference between leading an army and fighting in a battle. Women in a number of societies did the former. Not the latter. The Celtic men fought. The women, as in every other society in history, did not. Because putting women into combat alongside men makes absolutely zero sense and can be disastrous to the survival of any society without offering any possible advantage. Also those numbers are almost certainly grossly exaggerated. Ancient historians did this all the time - it made victories look more glorious and defeats look less shameful if you fought an army of 100,000 instead of a more realistic number (I don't know what a better estimate would be, but 100,000 is almost certainly an exaggeration).
