Calling people "racist" is not only a sign of stupidity (it's a stand in for "I don't have any real arguments"), but it's also boring.

@ordinarytree4678 The fact that "racist" is an arbitrary and utterly meaningless term is a good start. It's a word used by idiots in lieu of an argument. You don't like someone's position, but you can't think of any reasons why? Call him RACIST! It's an idiotic word that has lost any legitimate meaning, and its use only serves to weaken any point being made by the person using it.

@DemonaruMusic Right. As I've explained, that doesn't actually mean anything. It's an assertion based on essentially nothing that just means "his attitudes weren't the same as mine". It's not even a critique, it's just chaff. Foolishness. You're virtue signaling by shouting a meaningless insult against someone long dead who lived in a different era who used the language considered acceptable in that era, as opposed to the ultra-PC language that's become mandatory within certain circles today. You're not indicting Lovecraft by shouting RACIST. You're only making yourself look a fool.

@DemonaruMusic That definition is obsolete, and you seem to know that. Either way, what's your point? It's not even a critique, it's just meaningless fluff. If you want to say "he was inaccurate in describing X group", just say that. You seem to just be saying "his protagonists all belonged to the same ethnic group as him", which is a bad thing because reasons, but so what? The overwhelming majority of protagonists in literature belong to the same ethnic group as the author. Is Shakespeare RACIST because he wrote about Henry V and not Caliph Umar or the Qin Emperor? You're basically taking an observation that you dislike for no apparent reason and turning it into a bludgeon. It's meaningless, it's boring, and it isn't an actual critique of anything.
