I live right outside of DC, and one of the few benefits to living in this area is the access to museums. Although the Smithsonian Museum of American History, while it has an excellent collection of important and interesting artefacts, is so poorly arranged and has so much chaff as to almost ruin it. Like, in the room where they have the original Star Spangled Banner on display, what would otherwise be a truly amazing experience is significantly reduced by the fact that they pipe fake battle sounds into it. Nonsense like that is pervasive throughout the museum, and the exhibits aren't particularly well organized either. I really want to go to the Marine Corps museum in Quantico, though I never suggested it to my girlfriend cause I figured she would be bored to death while I was excited and enthralled by all the pieces of Marine Corps history, until she said it was something that she'd like to do. Of course, when she mentioned it was when she told me that they were shut down due to the covid.
