  1. In Indo-European languages, there are still only essentially four words for beer. Obviously Beer (Bier, Biere, etc); Ale (Øl), Cerveza, and Pivo. Wherever you go in Europe, whether they speak Romance languages, Germanic languages, or Slavic languages, it's gonna be one of those four words. Spelling and pronunciation might change a bit, but when we talk of a drink made from malted grain and fermented, beer, ale, cerveza, and pivo are what it will be called
