Oh cool, I've seen one of these at the Udvar-Hazy museum in Virginia. Didn't know it was the only one left.

There are apparently four surviving P-61s. I just saw one of them at the Udvar-Hazy center in Chantilly, VA. It's an impressive looking plane, even if its service record is pedestrian.

Far more impressive than the first jet v. jet victory is the victory of US Marine Captain Jesse Folmar, who shot down a MiG-15 in his WWII era piston powered F4U Corsair. He shot down a MiG-15, then was immediately jumped by several others and shot down himself. Still pretty badass though.

What is it they say about if a plane looks right, it'll fly right? That F-107 is ass-ugly. The F-105 was cool looking.

The Japanese never called it "whistling death". That's just stupid, no soldiers ever have had nicknames like that for enemy gear, and there is zero evidence that any Japanese soldier, sailor, or airman ever referred to a Corsair by that name. They called it the Sikorsky, because of Igor Sikorsky, who helped design it. When soldiers come up with nicknames for enemy gear, they are virtually always disparaging. Look at the Me-262, which was called a "blowjob" by American pilots.

"Non-stealth"? "Jet"? And Chiang Kai-Shek's surname is Chiang. Kai-Shek is a given name. In Chinese (and many other Asian cultures as well), the surname comes first.
