  1. "The firefights were fun"... there are a lots of different reactions soldiers had. I giggled a lot. I was happy. The sense of victory at then end of it; just being alive. That was the victory. My experience with war started at 39 yrs old. And this went on for 13 years in Afghan and Sahel. I miss it so. What bothered me was the young men that died before they really lived. I was 39. So I figured that if I died, I already had lived a life.
