Yes, but he's referencing the fact when Latin originating words suddenly became the dominant make up of the English language And that did not happen until 1066 with William the Conqueror and his victory at the Battle of Hastings Prior to that yes, Romans and their Latin had pretty much been in the British isles for around 300 years when Caesar conquered the southern portion of them And they didn't leave until about 383 AD yet the Romans never conquered the entirety of the British isles, that's why latin-based languages never dominated over the Native Germanic languages spoken in the British Isles until William the Conqueror many centuries later

@jonathanwebster7091 Buddy Scots is in the division of West Germanic egro languages of the Germanic family are native to the British Isles, you dolt And yes sadly as much as I don't like it Latin originating words have unfortunately taken over the English language and they do now make up over 50% of the English language But luckily we don't classify languages via percentages of words and their usage. We classify them by their origin and even if the vocabulary was 90% Latin based tomorrow, English would still be a Germanic language because it doesn't originate from Latin So you don't need to try and educate me on Old English and the history of the English language and it's development I already know it
