I sure hope so I know Ethiopia was not happy after losing Eritrea But if the national government of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa can't seem to get the national identity of "Ethiopians" to persist and override the idea of the various "tribal identities" within it's borders well... Then it's going to be a difficult one for the nation of Ethiopia going forward

I can't say I'd be surprised, Eritrea used to be part of Ethiopia and they successfully broke off into their own nation Sadly though Eritrea became somewhat of a dictatorship afterwards though And even in Ethiopia now there's too many fragmented views persisting, the Tigray, the Oromo, and the Amharic peoples see themselves more by their clan and ancestral tribal identities rather than the national identity of Ethiopian This is especially the most pronounced with the Tigray who I think very recently launched an armed insurrection against Addis Ababa

That's because the Ukraine-Russian conflict kicked off around the same time that this did overshadowing it

@m2v-animatez I mean that might be true to a point, but also this issue in Ethiopia is internal to Ethiopia it doesn't extend past international borders Whereas the Ukraine - Russian conflict does making it more likely to get international coverage

@Ass_of_Amalek yeah that was me attempting to use euphemisms and trying to keep it mild

@ssnaut1871 yeah, I was just trying to keep it mild

@m2v-animatez it's not a lame excuse what you said only proves my point there's multiple international actors in both of those conflicts Russia acting in Syria and The US aiding the Saudis in Yemen Contrast that with Ethiopia, this issue has largely been an internal matter to Ethiopians

Well you had the ending of a monarchy which as time passed became increasingly authoritarian, who was overthrown Only to go right back into an authoritarian regime, but hey at least no monarch now right? 🤷 After, that you had a sovereign territory you held for years break off and become its own nation effectively now making you land locked and now it be more difficult to access the wider world for trade as you lost your coastline Continuing that run of bad luck there have been many uprisings from various indigenous tribal groups especially in the North Who according to the perspective of their eyes has reasoned that only one particular tribal group seems to always be the leader in Addis Ababa, sparking discontent And now you are in the middle of an international dispute with another African nation who is entirely dependent on the river which originates from your sovereign territory You want to dam the river to make electricity but the down stream nation is having none of it As because they say they won't tolerate anything which is an existential threat to their very existence and is becoming increasingly more hostile

No, the age of empires is long dead and it should stay that way I don't support the rise of any Empire even if it's among Africans doing it to other Africans

I'm sure they don't, heck most Nations don't but a piece of it has broken off before sadly and formed into the sovereign nation of Eritrea I'm just curious if Egypt has anything to do with this which they might we don't know at the moment But the Ethiopian and Egypt dispute regarding the Nile could possibly get that heated

@Omer1996E.C I never said it was subjugated but it did used to be a part of the sovereign territory of Ethiopia before becoming its own sovereign nation
