What's going to make it even more crazy to you as an outsider is it's the State trying to enforce the Federal law and federal laws are the highest level of laws in the land for the US because for now the federal government is not wanting to enforce the federal laws on the books currently for immigration So to summarize the situation the Federal government is saying: "No we don't want this to be enforced at this time, and you will be forced into complying with our non-compliance" Meanwhile the state of Texas is going: "What in the world is wrong you? I am doing YOUR job these are YOUR laws and that you have written and passed in DC" And this is causing tension, it's likely this will go to the courts and the courts will have to decide once and for all if the border is entirely a Federal land and jurisdiction and the State has zero say Or the courts will rule that yes the State can indeed manage their own land even that of the border even if the federal government refuses to do so and attempts to order all states to follow

  2. ​ @nderitos well said 👍 I was trying to illustrate the same in my own comment Currently tension is being ignited by a disagreement over jurisdiction of federal and state and even though court rulings have always said BORDERS ARE FEDERAL It's possible that might be challenged due to the circumstances Or it's possible that the borders will stay federal and the federal government will be forced to act more strongly on the issue because it was raised to such priority
