An interesting tidbit is that when the Three Gorges Dam was being constructed in the late 1990s the Chinese government invited over a bunch of Western inspectors for an appraisal on the structure's quality The inspectors gave their verdict that there were severe foundational problems with the dam that were likely going to cause structural and integrity issues that would undermine the entirety of the overall structure and possible complete failure in the decades to come and they suggested halting construction to deal with them before construction was too far advanced and at that point where the issue couldn't be solved But this was dismissed by the CCP as nothing more than a racist tirade by the Western world trying to keep the Chinese underdeveloped and submissive to foreign influence and they proceeded with the continuation of the construction regardless Well it looks like time has proven those inspectors right, and if you ever need proof of the structural integrity problems suffering the Three Gorges Dam you can look at the viral satellite photos of before and after that show how the Dam has literally moved with all that weight of the water being forced upon it 😬 I only hope it doesn't collapse causing a flood of biblical proportions and take out literal millions of Chinese as a result

When your nation is so authoritarian you can't celebrate Halloween

It's greed but it's also a form of PTSD The generation that survived the Cultural revolution and the great famine of China have horrid memories of the event and as such they have been conditioned to take literally everything that is ever offered Because they have been in dire situations before
31
Never forget that in the 1990s the Chinese government hired a bunch of European and American inspectors to do quality assurance on how the three gorges dam was undergoing its construction And when they pointed out the flaws the Chinese just called it racist and dismissed it and now the three gorgeous dam has been proven to be shifting due to the faulty foundation it was built upon because they dismissed the advice of the foreigners

It's not just the PRC the Olympics are terrible in their own right
16
Well since China literally invented the concept of the standardized placement test it makes sense that itself and other nations that have had influence from it
14
It's basically a form of PTSD manifesting itself because those individuals were the survivors of some of the worst periods in Chinese history the cultural revolution and the Great leap forward Those two events were so bad people were starving so much that there was a documented cases of cannibalism of the recently deceased
12
You know your country is better when people stand outside in the rain and snow for hours to begin the process of legally immigrating into your country I'm just saying that you are not going to see the same thing at the Chinese embassy in Washington DC
8
And they say Americans and their healthcare system is bad
6
Be careful sometimes the body can heal itself even after a vasectomy and you might think that you're shooting blanks when you're really not
6
Well that's what happens when you think you can build a structure that doesn't take mother nature into account Interestingly enough there is a video that shows an Old bridge built during the Imperial era of China that survived a massive flooding whereas a modern bridge that was a few kilometres downstream was completely and utterly destroyed
5
For reference the entire US population is estimated at 330 million Meaning the Chinese nation has more people in poverty than everyone in existence on the US
5
@friedrichjunzt knowing the CCP they don't usually make things official like officially in China's Constitution they have equal rights to women minorities freedom of speech and practice of religion it's written in their constitution you can go and look at it But the CCP doesn't provide any of these things to their citizens
5
If you ever wanted to see a police state achieve it's completion here you go delivered in real time as well
5
@TheRenofox yes it does, that previous suffering has manifested into an extreme distrust and a selfish mentality in the survivors of the event "If I can't have it no one can" because during those times that was the prevailing attitude what caused them to survive It's still not a good mentality to have, but it's why you only see it in the older generations of Chinese, most other Chinese don't like them

I think it's really weird that the Manchurian braids is seen as nothing but condemnation in China the very source of the hairstyle
4
Yes they will sadly

Damn father nature is pissed 😂
2
It's happening in Pakistan too
2
Yeah I commented something similar

You can blame China pretty severely infact China is now the world's largest polluting nation and that's not just in terms of mere carbon burning for the overall climate issue But it's also inclusive of China causing the world's largest desertification process, by ironically planting the world's largest artificial forest, and China is also the world's largest ocean exploiter and engaging in overfishing In fact it's so bad that China has overfished the immediate Waters off their country so dry that the Chinese government has fishing vessels illegally operating in the waters off of other nations in protected areas like the Galapagos islands
2
Basically China is pissed that Russia is doing what China already does to foreign companies In China you must have a Chinese citizen to represent all legal matters and that must be made partner to the business All daily necessities like the saws and forklifts he mentioned must be of Chinese manufacturer unless specified otherwise Chinese government gets first dibs on any and all research and development Russia now giving that same treatment to China and they pissed 😂

The child able to see the emperor's new clothes for what they really are

It's also hard to escape social security payments in the US as well the only one that I know of is if you are an inherent to the Amish Faith you do not have to pay social security Thats the only exception I am aware of
1
For context the current entirety of the population of the United States is about 330 million people Meaning IF this Dam failed and IF the result of that failure killed about four hundred million people that is the equivalent of literally everyone in the United States every single, man, woman, and child just gone Meaning that one single disaster would be now the single greatest loss of life in human history, more loss of life than WW1 and WW2 combined and remember the singular largest suffer from WW2 was 20 million casualties in the USSR
1
Someone posted that it will be a disaster of epic proportions if the Three gorges dam ever failed And they aren't kidding but epic is a gross understatement If it ever fails it will likely result in an estimated 400 million casualties For context the entirety of ever man woman and child of the population in the US is estimated to be around 330 million according last census data And Canada's population census estimate was around 30 million Meaning having the three gorges dam fail is like wiping the slate clean of everyone living in the US and Canada combined! The 3 gorges dam failure event would now be the newest greatest loss of life in the recorded history of mankind and it would even overtake WW2 military and civilian casualties
1
You are correct much of it is untreated raw sewage, the Chinese system doesn't have that great of drainage nor sewers and the raw sewage very often seeps into the streets when floods like this happen In fact china's misuse of it's underground water aquifers has led to many of them to become completely unusable, and that doesn't mean just you can't drink it, It means that the water is so bad you couldn't use it even industrial or irrigation purposes
1
Yeah without a doubt the loss of life would be too great for even the CCP to manage the outrage with all their authoritarian oppression because potentially hundreds of millions of people would be unfortunately killed in the disaster For context the entirety of the population of the United States is estimated to be around 330 million imagine in the disaster that killed about a hundred million people, there is nothing that any authoritarian regime could do to prevent the outrage as a result of that large of a crisis
1
@Bk6346 it's not bull crap! it's a result of that stupid autocorrect where the dumb "S" on Americas was dropped! because I already knew that Brazil was involved hence why I said "Americas" in the text to speech
1
@DrTubeman yeah China doesn't even have anything related to animal rights
1
There's very few things that can make me irate and absolutely livid But that excavator doing that to graves and tombstones is one of them Disrespect of the deceased at their final place of rest will definitely send me over the top and I will never forget nor forgive what the CCP does to their own people
1
You can still levy blame to China in that regard they're the world's largest polluter in all aspects But what really made this more tragic than what it should have been was the Chinese government deliberately opening up the spillways so that way the Beijing area the capital city wouldn't flood but the surrounding areas would
1
The Soviet Union had to import grain just to fed it's people, I'm not surprised that the Communist party of China has to do the same
1
"The attempt on my life has left me emotionally scarred and delusional but I assure you my resolve has NEVER been stronger!" "In order to ensure the PRC's security and the party's continuing dominance and stability the society will be reorganized with the rebirth of the Chinese empire!"
1
@tvnatinto actually YES! those Nations never experienced what China went through during those two events they are without a doubt the single biggest loss of life ever seen suffered by a single nation in modern history There's a reason why Mao is the greatest criminal of all time, his body count is the largest of any authoritarian leader
1
The pla hasn't seen combat since 1979 when they invaded Vietnam and they got their butts kicked by the Vietnamese The pla does have border skirmishes with India but the Indians trounce them every time and that's when they're not allowed to carry firearms on the line of actual control
1
There is none, the government of China regularly takes property from residents and doesn't provide compensation Because the CCP owns all the land and all the buildings on it, so you are not entitled to compensation because it was never yours Your compensation was being able to use the land and the building at the hands of the benevolent CCP
1
Those Chinese students were brought up in China with the mentality of "If you can cheat, cheat" and now they finding out that most of the West doesn't like it
1
@renstimpy9313 No! Even if you hate the CCP and want the Chinese regime to fall for once this is not something you NOT should celebrate nor wish to happen because the Three gorges dam failure would result in a loss of hundreds of MILLIONS of lives estimates are around 400 million casualties it would be a biblical flood and apocalyptic in style It would be the newest deadliest event to result in human loss of life in recorded history even eclipsing WW2
