coolinjapan no it was known, just covered up after the disaster to prevent public outcry. Much easier to do back then when compared to today Remember what happened to King Leopold of Belgium during the Congo? A MASSIVE propaganda campaign was launched during and after his lifetime to prevent him from being associated with the atrocities of the nation. And for over 120 years it was successful. The same thing happened to the Luisitania The US had already unofficially sided with the British government back in 1911 but they were still posing themselves as officially neutral Because the American public didn't like the idea of joining what was at the time deemed a "European war" So the American political elite made the gamble and went against the spirit of the public and made deals in secret to the Entente You may not like it, but Politics is the art of the possible. When you are in a position of power you WILL be forced to make dirty underhanded morally reprehensible deals. It's the nature of the game. If you try to be completely honest about everything you'll often find that you will be fighting against devils that don't, good luck with that Complete honestly in politics isn't great for a long career because it makes you very predictable and thus easier to remove your power

@farmerned6 you're entitled to your opinion I just wish it didn't involve name calling... Anyways I won't treat you that way and say I hope your day is awesome but yes the US political elite already supported the Entente even if the American public didn't Recall the famous German American who was likewise lynched by a mob in 1916

must kill off the lionfish in the caribbean, gulf and atlantic. They have no predators there. They kill every other fish. There will be no public outcry when they are removed and can only be found in the indo pacific. It will be the first successful major multinational pest eradication effort.

Nuclear power plants don't have to have a risk of a meltdown. If you invest in researching nuclear energy and next generation plants, such as a thorium MSBR type of plant. And the Japanese government knows this which is why even after Fukushima. They are building another 20 nuclear power plants to service their energy demands. This isn't 1960 anymore so stop thinking that it is.

Yes there is but it's a more subtle link. It was the beginning of the rallying cry for the US to officially join And yes there was a further vlink as the ship did indeed have military ammunition from the US and heading to the Entente Remember "All warfare is based on deception" If the US government can officially claim neutrality; All the while and sending supplies to only one side of the conflict; Only to then claim innocence when discovered; Reversing said justifiable claim to destroy the reputation of the other side Just shows how masterfully crafted the play was in terms of Statecraft, Diplomacy and Deception
