This is why I'm disappointed in both Canada and the US policy makers who think it's a good idea to let non citizens vote No at all levels of government Municipal, State/Provincial, or even National should all be restricted to citizens of that nation to cast a ballot If you want to participate in the process you need to be a part of that nation that's supposed to be the whole reason why you get the citizenship in the first place

@keeperofthefate You misunderstand they have the ability to be represented, it's through the citizenship process the citizenship process of the United States is pretty generous, there's very few nations world wide that grant you Jus Soli upon birth most nations are Jus Sanguinis in essence they severely restrict immigration the United States recognizes dual citizenship status as well, and has a streamlined naturalization process Not only that but the United States literally gives away citizenship through passport lotteries each year over 120,000 are just gifted away to anyone in the world And further there's no exclusion to any country, you can come from any nation and begin your naturalization process you cannot however claim to represent yourself in a vote it you do not belong to that same nation you need to be a part of that Nation if you want to talk about it's direction of where it should go

@keeperofthefate and also understand that what I described it IS the current system I only have issues with those that are trying to change policy and allow people who have no loyalty to a nation they are in attempt to change it's politics If you want to change politics of a nation you MUST belong to that nation and that's for all countries around the world The neat thing is some countries make it easier than others to become citizens
