@balpreetsingh6834 oh I know I have no idea why America chose to Ally itself with Pakistan but yes that was a reason for India however, I must point out that the change in alignment by India didn't happen until many decades later in the 1970s And the US declared Pakistan to be an ally in 1957 so while true, it's not the main reason why India shifted it's alignment East

@Xaitis it's because India allied itself with the Soviets back during the Cold War days and that legacy of Russian and Indian cooperation still persists

Not really, you were part of the non-aligned movement for a long number of years you didn't change to support the USSR until the 1970s under Indira Gandhi who over the course of her administration became increasingly authoritarian

Well they weren't neutral they were very much aligned with the USSR on the Soviet side of the metaphorical Iron curtain and that legacy is what's persisting today That's why you see all the close cooperation India does with the successor state of the USSR. But it's weird because the government of India really hates China right now with all those border clashes and the Indian soldiers who died in the LoaC, and yet Russia keeps declaring themselves friends to China So there must be some reason unknown to me as to why India will overlook the Sino-Russian cooperation when making deals with Moscow

@tony16991 oh it's complex without a doubt but the US doesn't overlook it it's why they don't share military intelligence with the Indian government or exercise with the Indian military forces

@balpreetsingh6834 Understand the US government had deployed task force 74 not for India, but to shadow the 4 Soviet ships already in the area of the Bay of Bengal and to assist with the withdrawal of Pakistani troops as for the terms of the negotiated ceasefire, a ceasefire that the USSR had consistently vetoed in the UNSC But yeah why in the god damn hell the US ever allied itself with Pakistan is beyond me, Nixon was so desperate to show China that the US was a great ally he wilfully ignored the atrocious acts done by the West Pakistanis and he violated congressional imposed sanctions to arm West Pakistan because he believed that it was the last remaining non Soviet-allied state and if it fell then the Soviets would have the entire region 🤦 This is why I hate the Realist school of politics, the US didn't understand what it beloved to be was nothing more than a proxy war between two the two super powers, not a nation under the yoke of another and subjected to mass killings Thankfully the US have woken up to this fact and have joined the worldwide condemnation towards Pakistan, there exists a monument still in the US to those killed by the West Pakistanis and the Bengalis who suffered from it

@balpreetsingh6834 Without a doubt the Soviets were in the area first because Task force 74 was delayed The main ship, an aircraft carrier called the USS Enterprise, had to wait for its support ships to refuel so it stayed in the area around Singapore while it did. Finally the ship crossed into the Indian ocean 14 of December and reached Bay of Bengal 15th December and it traveled very slowly to conserve it's own fuel But yeah I'm not surprised why the Indians would be alarmed at the sight of the Enterprise it was, and still is the largest aircraft carrier and military service ship ever made, but it is only nuclear powered not nuclear armed

@tony16991 I will admit the for the Malabar I was wrong because I assumed it was still cancelled as a result of the numerous delays the lockdowns had and Biden and his ban policy regarding the nation of India when the Wuhan virus slipped back into the nation But no the QUAD doesn't share military intelligence, not even the distinction of "NATO secret" levels of information are allowed
