  2. The current Russian flag is from the days of just before the time of Catherine the Great in 1696 While current the Belarusian flag is actually very recent having been designed in 1991. Belarus used to have flag similar to the current Russian federation flag with horizontal white stripes on both the top and bottom with a red stripe in the middle that white-red-white flag was adopted by the Belarusian government in 1918
