Pretty sure that if anyone would use covert operations to disrupt this it would be China not the US or the CIA The US isn't entirely dependent on trade through SE Asia Pacific region, unlike China, it only just patrols the area With freedom of navigation exercises to keep the route open for others But I don't think the SE Asia nations of the Malay archipelago will ever unite, even if they were culturally homogeneous. It's the same concept as Nasser's idea of "Pan Arabia" Where the entire Arab Speaking world would unite into a single country and you can see how badly that failed
