I think France is trying to do their best to wrestle the dominant position of the EU away from Germany and they have many benefactors of their geography and their demography that can the potentially assist them in this regard Not to mention their military is vastly superior to that of Germany's I believe they are 7th strongest in the world And even though they are suffering somewhat from the lack of Russian supplied oil and gas France invested heavily in nuclear power plants and even different types of nuclear power plants rather than just the classic nuclear power plants we know of boiling water to turn a turbine they've got different designs that they have put together and some of them even are operating in China so France is trying to also maintain a degree of energy Independence from foreign Nations by the use of their vast nuclear energy plants to their power grid

@ommsterlitz1805 that makes sense Germany doesn't have a very militant Society in fact it doesn't like to even send the basics of military equipment to Ukraine they were extremely reluctant to do so Also Germany is not a nuclear weapons power all the dominant militaries are nuclear weapons carrying so I'm not surprised they're military ranking is at 25 and yes Taiwan is higher military ranking than Thailand Taiwan does participate actively in exercises with the Americans and receives American equipment and training Thailand does neither

I think the reason why France doesn't understand that is because France doesn't share a border with the Russians or the Russians allies like Belarus so whenever there is any issue France can just grandstand openly saying that they condemn it but all the while privately they're still saying hey you'll still sell me that gas and oil won't you Russia?
