I only want to note that the officer is kinda out-of-pocket by saying "driving around for three and a half hours" isn't something people do. I grew up in rural nowhere wtf we supposed to do? Play tag in the woods? Climb up on the school roof? What if they've done that a million times before and just ... liked driving? I love driving.

@crikker9447 It's called a double-up statement. If you are innocent then it's a descriptive remark, but if you are guilty then it'll make your hair stand on-end.

@anudesignsbynkrumah9081 They have to. Remember that we are viewing this with the power of hindsight. Dude's story was strange, yeah, but it's at least plausible enough to check out. His suspicion was there but it was confirmed after they realized the vehicle didn't exist. Have you ever been hunting before? When the tracks and traces disappear, you always circle back to the last place you saw them.

@REDVETTExxx Yeah I mean you at least stop at a park and smoke cigarettes under a pavilion or something. Take a break. Have the radio turned up and music blaring. I like to drive but you gotta drive somewhere worth driving to.

@mommaberti8124 Yeah so when they get to the last person who saw the missing person they will often jar them sharply like that. Even if it was the parents. Their job is to find the missing girl and being soft isn't getting her back anytime soon.
