@HeyBerrie - sorry, but I have to say that you are quite misinformed regarding Soviet Ukraine. First of all, it was one of the 4 republics in the area of the former Russian Empire that founded the USSR. Then, there were 2 campaigns of "ukrainization" of the Russian-speaking habitants. Including Donbass regions transferred later from the Russian to Ukrainian Republic - were added some industrial areas to balance its mostly agrarian economy. And in Soviet Ukraine, there were published many more books in the Ukrainian language, than in current days. For the first time were translated classical masterpieces of world literature. Should be mentioned also movie studios, that produced films in both Ukrainian and Russian. By the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine had a more developed infrastructure than even Russia. So, it was a rather strange occupation.
