  2. That's because you're still thinking of it as states instead of the general population. The people wouldn't be voting as a state because that system is off. Each vote would be individual. So Republicans in blue states would not get a vote and vice versa. All you're saying is that there's more population in some states. But the people wouldn't be voting as a state. The candidate wouldn't be winning the state. They'd be winning every individual vote.

  3. Republics are democracies. You democratically elect representatives. Democracy describes how you elect representatives.
