Some states have restrictions and some don't. If a gun is to shoot at a skeet plate then there are ways to give people that outlet without arming them all the time. Same for hunting.

Hoping things heal on their own. The majority of Canadians really say Americans exaggerate these things and most surgeries are prompt. In any case, the difference here is between getting it done or not. So the voice of one lone conservative isn't and shouldn't be enough to sway anyone. Because it just isn't enough of an aggregate opinion. And because you have a political bias. When a different poster described why employer healthcare was cheap. He failed to mention or realize that public healthcare works on the exact same principle. everyone pools costs at a macro level. And part of the reason employee healthcare can be cheap(tho small business struggles with it or don't offer it) is because the government allows them to. The government is already helping them. No one wants barebones insurance. People go without it when they can. Which leads to bad health outcomes, putting it off, not getting advice ect.

Spontaneous due to the anger of the people. We saw this before with the killing of Latasha Harlins and the 1992 Los angeles riot. The difference is just that many more killings happened near each other, across the country, that has much faster news and social networks. It was done by police, and it is part of the greater issue of police reform(the officers got off, or light punishment too), and racism since the issue hadn't been resolved from the 90s one. The right wing attempt to conflate that kind of riot is ridiculous. It's like you're saying that since black people were involved, that it was BLM. When it just wasn't. BLM ALSO organized protests due to that being the nature of how they were formed. And people protested it in general, or joined them. But that is separate from the riots. I have no connection to BLM. But we've seen this kind of riot before. And it happened where I live. We were all aware. And you could even find protests organized that either stopped the riots or didn't let it start. BLM and other protestors were against it. Who knows, maybe the protestors, and blm actually helped calm that down by giving people an avenue. Or it was the curfews, whichever, maybe both. So unless you think BLM time travelled to be responsible for every angry riot that happens, it just doesn't make sense.

All you can do at that point is hope that they beat the odds, that a miracle like that happens. Instead of the inevitable, the most highly likely. So I understand that sentiment by the end. You start compromising. Maybe you won't your family back at full mental capacity. I was in that situation. You start accepting whatever you can get back as long as they're alive, and you probably won't get that.

  507. I don't agree with the cancel thing. Yea some people use it too much, and the rightwing does it too. But you're only talking about clapbacks to celebrities that are powerful. I've seen a lot of smaller actors, and people in publishing and whole games and media really get piled on. It started out from media criticism by journalist. But that criticism really did become about a quota kinda thing. And about jumping to conclusions. I've ignored that for so long I don't know if it still exists. But it went beyond talking and beyond wishing there was more. It went into considering something bad for what it was lacking. And then that got worst on the internet. I think it's fair to say that now more people can talk back. But sometimes those people are spiteful. Or just looking to get people in trouble. That one Flash actor that hadn't done anything at the time got canceled for a tweet he made about not making racist jokes because he'd be cancelled before he was on the show. One region of Spain banned Dragonball. It's one thing for criticize Minaj now for what she's doing. But digging up tweets? And holding on to that. That's the thing about cancel culture. It's not always totally wrong. But that doesn't mean it's right. There were always controversies. And maybe there were campaigns to get things off the air. But we don't look back at those as right. And it doesn't make them right just because the internet makes it easier to do. But it is a complex issue when the solution isn't just not calling things. The thing is that the internet makes it easy for it to roll into one. People often call it a mob. We saw it with public opinion and condemning people. I think it's just important not to get swept into it. And so having an understanding of how cancel culture can be is good to keep things in check. And when it's legitimate and when it's not.

  517. I think everyone is so used to U.S imperialism that they don't see when an action would actually be justified, morally at least. I don't think the U.S should be leading on this. But I also don't think there's anything wrong if Ukraine had been helped. Being in fear of Russia will paralyze us every time? I'm not for the air zone but a plane being shot down over a sovereign country isn't cause for war. It'd be illegal for that plane to be there. Now Russia is acting crazy so maybe they'd take it that way. Troops on the ground from NATO, mostly from EU would have made sense somewhere as a line to hold Russia off for peace talks. That would be Russia attacking them. Not us attacking Russia. If Russia had seen that this would be difficult. they might have not bothered. When a county is invaded, I'm sure the people wonder why no one helps them. This just adds a layer of hypocrisy. To all of you and your take on morality. To the U.S teaching about WW2. I'm not calling for it. But to say every country should avoid what's already happening, or take that choice off the table is what I disagree with. The threat itself might be useful in negotiations( as a possibility and not an ultimatum)
