  3.  @dnciskkk9037  then come live here. The elder worry about Medicare being slashed all the time. And there's been efforts to privatize it. The poor worry about Medicaid. And people who don't qualify are grinded. You don't have to be very rich to not fall into it. They're mostly for single women. Generously let's say "families" You act like healthy people want a barebone plan. That's what they can afford, and since they're also poor, it's only a matter of time till that grind messes them up. And you don't suddenly get government care. If you even know how to get it. But you can be quite injured without getting anything. And if anything major happens, you're in permanent debt. Hell you could be a family getting by and something major can really ruin you. Or something chronic. Children aren't always covered either. That all means post poning things. Hoping things heal on their own. The majority of Canadians really say Americans exaggerate these things and most surgeries are prompt. In any case, the difference here is between getting it done or not. So the voice of one lone conservative isn't and shouldn't be enough to sway anyone. Because it just isn't enough of an aggregate opinion. And because you have a political bias. When a different poster described why employer healthcare was cheap. He failed to mention or realize that public healthcare works on the exact same principle. everyone pools costs at a macro level. And part of the reason employee healthcare can be cheap(tho small business struggles with it or don't offer it) is because the government allows them to. The government is already helping them. No one wants barebones insurance. People go without it when they can. Which leads to bad health outcomes, putting it off, not getting advice ect.
