It's not a role. It's a cultural value that exists regardless of other things. It's like believing in right and wrong.

I know that case. Very messed up. No idea why that woman did such a thing. But the man is still a good person.

That's bad but maybe you saved someone's life. I think the lesson is to call the police yourself, and talk to the girlfriend about reporting her. Or leave them to it because they've expressed their choice. But someone could just as well have thanked you.

@meme5546 I understand what your saying, and that's a good point if you come at it from that perspective. My point is that it's something men value in general. You can say it's a cultural value among men. I would say regardless of women, and growing up, I did not assume women did not have this. And a woman could have this value. It is the value of self sacrifice. Of having either the power or the will to intercede. "As a Person, Not doing something when you have the knowledge and righteousness to do it is the same as not having any courage" To me it's about knowing what is good and righteous. And hoping(resolving) that I would act right if the situation presented itself. It isn't about the woman, but the righteous and moral act itself.

Patricio Salazar is a hero. The world is better that someone like him lived. It has nothing to do with women. This is a value. If you say it's for men than all the more reason not to lose it. Because it is precious, and noble. We are better as men for believing in helping people to our abilities. Hell, sometimes far below our abilities. That's why we call people like that heroes. I think it's a mistake to position this as only being about women, and about doing this for the sake of women. The part of the code of knights that people know is more based on women, but they essentially were suppose to protect everyone, children, the old, unarmed men ect. This core belief is not tied to women. It's not tied to women's rewards, or respect.

Do you have a sense of justice, or do you do things because you want respect, or acclaim. A sense of justice has nothing to do with women, or your place in life or society. It is a reflection of who you are. Also I looked up the drowning, one similar case was a hoax. And another the guy had gotten the lawsuit dismissed but had to pay the legal fees.
