What are you trying to say?

@lincolnlog5977 maybe But let's tell that to African Americans, or native Americans. How are we going to deny or ignore the injustices of the past. Or how about Africa as a whole or India, or Ukraine. I bet the Palestinians would wish to be in your position. I don't think P.R should be denied statehood for racist reasons. I'm saying people of P.R need to reconsider. How is it rightwing to be against imperialism Nationalist ideals aren't always wrong. And a bit of pride isn't always wrong.

Then you have to realize some stuff. The U.S keeps rejecting you. The independence movement has been sabotaged by the U.S for the past century. And now, people are so used to it that the U.S doesn't even have to do anything. The history of the U.S and all of America is marked by a right for freedom against imperialist empires. And you are going against it. Even statehood barely gets 50%. And your vote for it is near meaningless. And independence used to get more. People are just scared because they've been defeated and resting on their laurels..that's why getting the word out is important. People should never quit a fight for freedom.

Explain? The culture of a people and country can't be compromised until it's given away. It's merely eclectic otherwise.

@lincolnlog5977 what propaganda. You sound like a rightwinger. That's why the U.S put a boot in Puerto Rico, and they've torn through south America, and Carribean. But this choice shouldn't be about socialism or not. Rightwingers and second generation people fr new York that are just American that start to lean right need to stop believing propaganda. And remember what the U.S went through for freedom and independence.

@lincolnlog5977 joining the U.S or not won't do anything about corruption. You could move them(or yourself) now. Imagine teaching your kids the history of the U.S, and then coming to Puerto Rico's history. This is how these people fought for freedom. And this is how we were taken over, and treated bad. Every country in the world has that same pipe dream. Countries are built on it. Your sentiment is fair insofar it's practical. I get it. The opposite would be the less certain path. But there should be a little anger at the history of what's happened. Some indignation. But it is a trade. Your children won't be Puerto Rican. To them (or the grandkids), It won't matter. To them Puerto Rico and Texas or wherever would all be about the same. Any pride towards Puerto Rico specifically will be a bit dumb. I can gurantee that the language will start to die. There will be a trade. But I do understand your pov. And the practicality behind it.
