I wonder if the non NATO members can form a temporary alliance. Then maybe that can be a buffer against Russian aggression. And they can join NATO.

@EonServoXA which part? If Russia has such a hair trigger when not attacked, it's literally the most dangerous nation that seemingly wants to end the world over nothing.

@EonServoXA what stops them from still be neutral? A defensive pact isn't an act of aggression, or taking a side. Otherwise they're opened up to being attacked by a neighbor that has showed it will do that. That it wants to do that, and perceives a right to do that. Edit: but a side has basically been picked for them. They have to be defensive towards Russia. That's what Russia doesn't understand with what it's done. It's why finland and Sweden want to move to join NATO.

That would make more sense if the conflict was small, and at the border. Isn't he too committed for it to just be for that reason
