  1. Most people didn't say that. It's democrats running Biden. The left-leaning people wanted Bernie Sanders, and to a lesser extent Tulsi Gabbard, Andrew Yang, and Elizabeth Warren. That's more of a stereotype conservatives and some center democrats think. That came up when AOC endorsed Bernie, and she had to explain that no one really thinks like that. And Trump is also an old white guy, and it's people who think like he does, and Biden to a lesser extent, that people don't want.

  22. I'll say this, a degree is an accomplishment and does show positive traits(hard work, some intelligence, and teaches some skills). But some people have life circumstances that make it difficult to go( bad parents, bad childhood, fears, anxiety, depression ect). And some smart people want other training, some prefer to get started right away. Some think college is too expensive, whose families are lower working class, not from a college background(they value being debt free). So they're not looking at college as much in the first place. And then some people just want enough money to live and then live a simple life in some rural area. Of course there's a small group where they have this idea of college as this highly politicized place where their politics makes them not even want to go.

You can then break it down further by nationality which is what most people would call themselves(unless born in the U.S). I don't use it usually to obscure my nationality by birth. When I was a kid people used to give dumb responses when you tell them where you're from or what you are and It wasn't what they were looking for really. Plus people have some biases or beliefs that it's better to just sort of obscure it unless they ask for it specifically. I actually prefer hispanic. Hopefully it's significantly cheaper than I'm expecting. Hopefully the ceiling is raised on ACA credits. And hopefully Biden gets kicked out after his first term or he quits. Hopefully either then or before then, the public option will become free. It's not as good as medicare for all. But a free public option would be at least ok. A paid in public option.... almost pisses me off. Hopefully we can get it subsidized by the government as well to move it to something like universal coverage. Move it to first be like Pete Buttigieg's plan, and then something like Tulsi's. Eventually I'd be fine with (a best case scenario of) all private insurance having to be nonprofit or kicked out the market.

  116.  @ghenulo  dollar stores are actually doing well. There were articles about it a y ear ago. While other retail does badly, that segment was growing and eating into Pharmacies. Walmart is also somewhat successful. And successfully competing with amazon. Some people think there's a chance Walmart will become Amazon before Amazon becomes walmart(that's how the article put it). I don't know if that's true but for the time being, Walmart is also doing well. As someone else said, Walmart is automating a lot too. They have scanners for their products(a machine that scans the halls). Auto scrubbers for trash and floor. And they've gotten rid of 2-4 lanes more to make the self check out bigger.

  144. It could go either way. Things have changed a lot even before Covid. A good portion of the right could hide behind this kind of attitude, and this opposition to cultural issues that don't matter as much. Most of those commentators have fallen. Hillary, both for being unlikeable and related to the clintons, and potentially for being a woman, has been replaced. Biden, for worst, is slightly more conservative. An old white guy, who is semi popular with both older black people and white people. The old will vote for him. The young might from having no choice. Then there's the energizing affect of Trump as opposition. These are different circumstances. And right now, Biden is winning despite people being cautious with results. It's possible if Covid dies down enough to be a distant memory by november. And Biden blows the debates totally. And if Trump doesn't blow them, and doesn't screw up more than he has. Or Covid is either not done, or still fresh in peoples minds.

  145. The parties are very similar. The main difference is a few cultural issues. And in general, republicans are more extreme. Depending on how much, the difference can be nil. Some leftist go to Dem because the Republican party is too extreme and there's nowhere else to go and have any power. But most of the Dem party is in Obama's own words, very similar to republicans. Especially the further you go into the past(to the point where they shift sides)

  161. No one is saying looting is reparations. And lockdowns are standard quarantine protocols. Almost every other country did it, and they faired much better. Out of like 2 countries that didn't do it, one slowly broke down, but had a universal healthcare to back them up, and people actually wearing masks. And the other didn't have the political ability to even order a lockdown. And they succeeded only because they already had a culture of wearing masks even for common colds. And the people obeyed guidelines, and wore masks. Only reason the lockdown was bad in the U.S is because of all these other issues, like the ignorance of the people that politicized wearing masks. The ignorance of the administration in dealing with it in the beginning, and being reluctant to lockdown ect.

  168. I think we should switch strategies to giving medicare to children 0-10. I think it'll be more monumental change, and easier. Republicans lose the argument of having to earn it for kids. Then expand it to 11-20, ect over time. Though lowering it at the same time is good too. And I love giving medicare dental and hearing aids ect. Give it everything, minus psuedo science.

They have to stand near the cold, sometimes have to go push carts, and sometimes have to sort of stop customers, and get into fights with customers. Most door greeters either get stuck at the job or switch sideways to essentially a lower job. Yeah it can be boring and is less labour intensive. But it's still retail, with a small customer service and AP element. But the idea that there weren't some boring slave jobs in history(like watchguard duty for something) is dumb.

  173. It sounds like if a small town is doing well, they should ban certain stores, the cheap and the big kind. From the comments, some small towns are doing badly and might need it. One town set up a grocery store managed by the government. And that's a possible solution. One person commented that post offices could do this. Still the government should help since it's what the constituents need. In some form or another.
