@liveinsea1 I'm not saying you are wrong, or most of what you're saying. But you don't get the cultural or societal perspective in the US at all. People aren't doing it because they're lazy. It's almost a cultural thing where people aren't brought up to think it's possible in the first place. Or that they can do it. And only a subset of middle income people, are brought up to think it's possible. plus a racial component that affects people born or brought up here that does the same. except for people who's families already ignore it. That's a cultural, societal thing that people have been trying to fix. Which is tied to an educational system that doesn't seem to help. Australia has higher stem average than US. Most developed countries do.

Automating wouldn't bring back much of anything. Western countries don't control businesses. They can offer incentives. Some regulation, that those businesses can fight, especially in the US. That's the issue. Companies will do what's best for themselves, whether that's going somewhere or automating ECT.

I think they've recognized this. Well a few companies. Lately I've seen a ton of ads for Temu. It has to advertise what it does. But purposefully, or incidentally, it has to focus on itself. I haven't and don't have any intention of trying it. I hate the fact I'm helping a brand spread awareness by talking about it a little.
