@Kaliko-ll3es because they were two separate territories. One stepped into the other, which is an invasion.

@S.a.m.p.i he seems to know more than you. Your argument is that somehow an independent country doesn't exist and that somehow, the independent country of Haiti does. But there's no reason for it. It's nonsense.

@S.a.m.p.i that's not the reality. There were two separate territories that were both independent. The colony didn't get independence. Haiti got independence. The Dominican Republic got independence. In two separate events. Haiti taking the DR was wrong. It's imperialism. This was not one event. The French didn't rule the DR. Haiti, declaring it's independence didn't get to take any territory beyond what was its own. Because it's not France. It's Haiti.

@IAMLILIIX where did this revisionist apologetics to invasion come from? By it not being yours. Just like anyone can invade Haiti now and they'd be invading because it's not theirs.

@S.a.m.p.i guess what I've been doing. The French fought the Haitians out of the Dominican Republic. And the Dominican Republic fought off the Haitians and the French and restored the Spanish. So your theory / revisionism that was wrong to begin with, doesn't stand. The French didn't want the Haitians taking it. Spanish rule was restored. Then the Dominican Republic declared it's independence. It is so weird that you keep trying to justify invasion and massacres. It's wrong to invade a country or territory. Haiti wouldn't have french claims anymore than it owned France. The French were against it and never combined the two as far as I can tell. And the French were kicked out before Haiti had won its independence, the Spanish restored, and the Dominican Republic had declared it's own before Haiti invaded again. So stop your evil revisionism to excuse something horrible.

@S.a.m.p.i hehe the constitution of louverture? That the French kicked out? Ha. You're proving the opposite point I think. He was an invader. And the Dominicans helped to get rid of him. I don't get what point you're trying to prove. That he didn't invade? It doesn't do that. The French didn't even take kindly to it. Doesn't seem that the French saw Haiti as having a claim to the Dominican Republic. we see the French repeatedly beat the Haitians out of there. Napoleon didn't even want him to take over. He didn't have the authority for it. The territory was split before. He invaded. Even though he was told not to. By 1809, the Spanish were back in control. Then it declared independence. It took their freedom, and sovereignty. And that's not right. So this revisionism falls flat.
