@Criminal-Minded74 ARs aren't technically legal but the design was popular, and it's shorthand for a type of gun people can easily imagine. It's like slang, or like bandaid, Kleenex, bounty, Google.

@MiamiHeatHype I'm sure his dad didn't explicitly say that too. Maybe he jokingly said it but it has nothing to do with the kids decision. But the dad did probably ignore the signs. Including by the police. Negligence caused by arrogance and/or incompetence.

@CrestviewCutters the government isn't unreined here. The government hasn't done anything at all. It hasn't over stepped it's bounds. The two things aren't related. If you want to blame one or both to ahead. But those reins are precisely why the government couldn't do anything. The dad doesn't have those excuses. The best you can say is that he shouldn't be responsible. But he was also very negligent because he does have a responsibility over the kid.
