  1. That uses democracy. Making it a form of democracy because it being a republic doesn't negate it being a democracy. I have no idea why you're using semantics. The words essentially have different origins. But not necessarily different meanings. While a republic could have some undemocratic elements to it. Who would want it to. Basically The words can have the same meaning. Alternatively, the U.S uses a democratic system. I've seen people think this is just because right wingers think democracy sounds like democrat.
