  1. There is no way it's due to comfort. It's probably because in large areas it might be more convenient to clean. But it sounds oppressive as hell. Or just weird. I wasn't born in the U.S. kids left on their own will pee standing up(even outside). It's in no way more comfortable because believe it or not, it takes more effort to sit and stand, then it does to just stand. And it doesn't take long enough to make it worth the effort. Only people where it might be worth the energy trade off is older people. Or if you're going to crap as well. And if you think it's not much energy. It doesn't have to be much. Fact is just that it's naturally more inefficient stand to sit to stand. It's also just more natural to just stand. The body would gravitate towards it. Seems like Germans have been shamed into it for the convenience of companies that deal with masses of people. Or maybe women falling in. Though it's fair easier to just tell people to put the seat down. My entire life I think I've only forgotten to do that twice. Women's parts for peeing are a bit further down than guys. It kinda goes sideways, or forward for guys. Like women might think it's the same but it's not. Imagine every little quick thing you do standing up. Like just grabbing something. And add sitting down while you do it. It's just so unnecessary. Edit: I also think the idea of being nicer by doing it plays a role. Though to me it's a bit jerkish to control people's peeing like this. Edit: Seeing the end of the video... I don't wanna be that guy. But it sounds like the women's movement did it .. just to be jerks, or the falling down idea. Or maybe they somehow tied it to aggression or some other negative idea they had. Based on what? What a crazy notion to have an issue with something as harmless as with how boys/men pee. How is that a victory for women's rights. It just sounds so petty and vindictive. But it definitely wasn't natural. Or just cause they're Europeans. It was societal engineering to solve a problem that, in this case, doesn't seem to exist. I'm not saying this is some world ending thing. But it's also amazing the kind of petty stuff people would reengineer society over. Anyone that's lived with women know that they get pee on the seat. If a guy does it, unless he's drunk, it's not cause he missed. It's usually some freak thing, or splashback. But it's not on the seat. It's on a part of the toilet that isn't for seating in the first place. Unless the freak thing redirects the pee greatly out of the way. And the same thing would happen while sitting. Sometimes the pee can go in-between the seat and out.

  2.  @victoriaseaman2785  I also worked cleaning bathrooms. Very few young boys went in overall. Though both sets were messes.
