But they pledged to vote for whoever gets the most anyway because they're also part of each party. You vote for the elector who's in the party, backing the person you want. It's convoluted but the end result is still democratic.

If Russia had taken it over, it'd be closer to NATO. Russia is already close to NATO. And now it'll have more NATO members, it isn't attacking, nearby. The pretext of NATO makes no sense. But even if it was to establish a puppet state. It would be oppressing Ukraine. Well I saw someone already explain this to you better.
