@markmuriithi Ukraine isn't as of yet wishing for it. Russia wants it equally, and doesn't want it equally. And Russia's terms are far more insulting. It's proposals are insulting. The way it talks about Ukraine is insulting.

@ericp1139 Russia is stalemating.

@wolfswinkel8906 Ridiculous. What's the common sense of invading a peaceful country, going against international law. Starting this quagmire.
3
@wolfswinkel8906 Peace was maintained till Putin decided otherwise. Till Russia broke it.
3
@wolfswinkel8906 you don't disqualify yourself from independence and recognized borders. Ukraine did nothing to Russia. Russia tried to dictate Ukraine's policy, which is a violation of its independence. And then invaded them over Ukraine exercising that sovereignty.
3
@wirasanjaya4517 the memorandum had nothing to do with joining NATO or not. So they didn't break anything. You're retroactively adding something to it that didn't exist. The agreement just gave recognition and assurance to never attack Ukraine.
3
@wolfswinkel8906 Russia didn't respect them. The Russian proxy separatist didn't respect them. Ukraine followed it despite that they were terrible. But to follow them unilaterally would have been even worse and opening themselves up.

"West" didn't do anything.

@ericp1139 Until Russia uses your theoretical Super weapons, it's a stalemate where they've failed to make progress.

@Tonik-13 wrong. US didn't do anything. The agreement was between each party individually. Russia was trying to interfere the entire time. Russia's entire gripe was that it lost its ability to interfere in Ukraine because the people showed such resistance. There was no violent change of power either. A violent overthrew would be a force violently taking over. But that's what happened in the donbas. Ukraine's government was never over thrown and in fact acted through its process the entire time.
2
@emrekacar5508 the flaw with what you're saying is that you talk as if it's the results of Ukraine's actions instead or Russian actions that Ukraine has no control over it. Ukraine behaved as any country would. And has every right to. Russia's behavior is the issue.
2
@emrekacar5508 they didn't face certain defeat or else they would have been defeated. The war has dragged. That's it. The war is still going.
2
@Emma.Ari123 Putin's whole argument is about his pride, and ego. He's sent men to die for a war he started that is unnecessary.

@wolfswinkel8906 Russia's conduct isn't honorable. Bringing in honor on someone invading and taking territory is ridiculous. The Russia side has none. It wanted to destabilize a country. It wanted to undercut it's sovereignty.

@НастоящийИсторик No they aren't. Because people far smarter and more educated than us, with actual power to decide, have said it's an illegal war. And it's a nonsense war based on a nonsense idea that Russia is not just a country. That Russia has a privilege that Georgia doesn't have. And that Ukraine doesn't have. That Russia's borders exceed it's actual borders and somehow begins in Ukraine.

@wirasanjaya4517 You must reasonphobic. Ukraine didn't use force until Russia invaded in self defense. If joining NATO was a threat, why is no country except Russia viewing it as a threat? It's not a threat. It's not valid. You can't attack people for joining an alliance. And that's the lie Russia uses. The truth is Russia wanted control over Ukraine. NATO just stops that control. That's Russia's real gripe with it. That doesn't come from self defense. Your defence can't hinge on controlling and taking away or sabotaging the sovereignty of nearby countries. Russia and NATO were cooperating. If no country is planning to attack you, then it's not valid. And Ukraine joining NATO didn't pick up till after Russia decided to invade.
