There's always people willing to sell out.

@Administrator0101 china is not Taiwan's husband.

@francozheng5617 You guys keep blaming the US but that doesn't make sense. China is escalating by threatening with Jets. It really doesn't make sense to pretend it's The US' fault.

@yiping7193 what republicans, when? Who? China and Taiwan came to be from people who were enemies in a civil war. Taiwan doesn't trust China to maintain autonomy. No one does. I imagine only if china itself switches to a more democratic system.

@Administrator0101 that's exactly what already happens minus nukes.

@PlaYer-sn5or You said it, Taiwan entered/given to the ROC. Which never lost control of it. That was in 1952, the PRC had been in power since 49. That resolution only made the people's republic the representative of "China". Those are the rights it's talking about. And the United Nations seat that the ROC had earned. A billion people who have little say in their government, definitely shouldn't have say in a different government represented by , and representative of, different people. This is only an issue of the state party. any Chinese person is just towing their line. It's not a government formed from their(the people's) desire in the first place. And average Chinese person has no reason to care about Taiwan. Also, practically(in reality), they are two different countries.

@ROCnotforsale because they were never together in the first place.
1
@ROCnotforsale Taiwan didn't have to declare independence because it was a totally different government. Taiwan's government claims china, separately, china's government claims Taiwan. Thus all Taiwan really has to do, is let go of it's claims to China(mainland) if it wants.

@jukio02 a deal to have no bases is possible. Peaceful reunification might be possible if china moves to democracy. I think china is better off letting Taiwan go it's separate way. It doesn't pose a threat to china anymore than any other small, island country would.
1
@jukio02 The US hasn't even tried to do a thing in Ukraine. China would be foolish to think otherwise in a war the US isn't even in.
1
@jukio02 that's fine but they've also hinted at a deadline.

@ROCnotforsale You don't have to argue it at all. I know you're hung up on Taiwan ECT. But that's silly and doesn't prove anything. I mentioned mainland china to create a distinction and Taiwan for the same. They are two different governments and always were. They don't even officially have the same name, republic of china vs people's republic of china. That's like getting upset that people call China china instead of the people's republic of china. It isn't constructive. They were always two separate governments that claim each other's territory but don't have control of the claim.

@jukio02 It isn't fighting so it is foolish to think it says anything of it's capabilities. Or NATO's.
