@daelundrumavidem8033 democracy is a process. There's no such thing as an authoritarian process being democratic. That's oxymoronic. The democracy is the process by which the people give consent to be representative. People are not their affiliation. The majority voted for this guy. People are also not the percentage of elected people of parties. So it's not 60% following 40. That is such bonkers nonsense. It really comes from a mind that doesn't understand democracy A mind shaped by an authoritarian party that wants to pretend that forcing affiliation is consent.

@sneakymove But only 34% supported the opposition. Meaning the majority of the people voted for that guy.

@happymelon7129 40% 34% Other:26 % The sorrow of an authoritarian regime is that it doesn't matter who supports it. And the state actively tries to brainwash you. And punished dissent.

@huanghermann5207 doing a bad thing for selfish reasons isn't a justification. It's like a child saying they don't want to do something and thinking that's a reason.

@daelundrumavidem8033 Democracy is about representation. Minority rule is a lot worse because the interest of the majority are overruled by the few. Let's distinguish between two types of minority. The fewest people, and ethnic groups. The good thing about democracy is if the ethnic groups have equal representation, then they can group together. You'd have politicians appealing to everyone and ignoring one group, that another politician can court. Because people would vote for their interest of not being mistreated. You can also have principled and legal safeguards. And of course minority groups will help them be made. The ethnic majority will too because of principles, and because a general law that affects everyone means it safeguards them as well.

@daelundrumavidem8033 there's no should. democracy is a process. The result is democratic because the process is democratic. People voting on an election has a democratic result. An authoritarian regime doing something means the result isn't democratic. The people weren't involved in consenting to it ect.

@daelundrumavidem8033 that means the majority voted for him. And the other parties got less than him. the runner up was in 30s and third was in the 20s.

@daelundrumavidem8033 it's ironic because that's exactly what you're doing. Either listen to me or start looking up the actual definitions in english.

@daelundrumavidem8033 the result is democratic because the process is. You're conflating terms and ideas. You are just factually wrong. And of course the process is the most important part because it's democracy. The process of democracy is more important than the process of authoritarianism. The result is a separate thing that matters based on what is trying to be accomplished. While you argue for authoritarianism, Russians are getting suppressed from their protests. A minority in terms of ethnicity and power are getting jailed. While an authoritarian regime does what it does. Same for the uyghurs.

@huanghermann5207 for one, it's not their territory, it was split during a war by the PRC. Two, that's not true. A lot of countries have acknowledged the independence of a former part of it.

KMT might not be pro independence. But it's wrong to think of them as pro reunification or China takeover as well. They can just as easily work together. It wouldn't look good for them to be viewed as the pro china party anyway

The US doesn't take weeks. It takes less than a week to know who won. Last presidential one took like 3 days.
